More than 700 North American bee species are in decline.  Monarch butterfly numbers are down more than 80% since the 1990's.   Beekeepers around the world continue to experience unusually high bee losses every year since 2007.  This course will also cover the basics of pollination, specific examples of plant pollinator relationships, varying worldwide responses to honey bee decline, and what you can do to help. EDUCATION TOPIC: Mite Monitoring and Control. Last month the Meeting Before the Meeting (MTM) covered how to do a mite check. Tonight we why monitoring is needed, how frequently to check, and different methods of control. If mite the population in your hive is not controlled not only is your hive threatened but other hives in the area can be affected.
